2004 was the first Toronto City Roots Festival, although it had a slightly different name: Toronto City Roots Song Celebration. It was held on Labour Day weekend (September 3rd through 6th) and ran for four days! There were numerous ticketed events and some stellar headliners including Ashley MacIssac, Fred Eaglesmith and Sylvia Tyson.
